That’s what makes life fun. That you can make these decisions. That you can create the world that you want. When you buy that first tube of paint it gives you an artist license. That’s crazy. Use what you see, don’t plan it.
This painting comes right out of your heart. A happy cloud. Pretend you’re water. Just floating without any effort. Having a good day. This piece of canvas is your world.
You could sit here for weeks with your one hair brush trying to do that – or you could do it with one stroke with an almighty brush. And just raise cain. Without washing the brush, I’m gonna go right into some Van Dyke Brown, some Burnt Umber, and a little bit of Sap Green. Just go out and talk to a tree. Make friends with it.
There isn’t a rule. You just practice and find out which way works best for you. Now we’ll take the almighty fan brush. A big strong tree needs big strong roots. You don’t want to kill all your dark areas they are very important. I was blessed with a very steady hand; and it comes in very handy when you’re doing these little delicate things. Let’s have a little bit of fun today.
This is probably the greatest thing that’s ever happened in my life. Isn’t that fantastic that you can make whole mountains in minutes? Maybe there’s a happy little Evergreen that lives here. Don’t fiddle with it all day. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage.
Just pretend you are a whisper floating across a mountain. Now let’s put some happy little clouds in here. That’s a son of a gun of a cloud. Those great big fluffy clouds. We touch the canvas, the canvas takes what it wants.
We’ll throw some happy little limbs on this tree. Paint anything you want on the canvas. Create your own world. I guess that would be considered a UFO. A big cotton ball in the sky. Let your imagination just wonder around when you’re doing these things. Just take out whatever you don’t want. It’ll change your entire perspective. Put light against light – you have nothing. Put dark against dark – you have nothing. It’s the contrast of light and dark that each give the other one meaning.
